Membership at Halifax is an invitation into a community that values the spirit of the game and the warmth of southern hospitality. Established 1930. Membership is limited to 375 members under our By-Laws.

Classifications

Per Article XIV, By-Laws

Class I — Full Resident

Married couples and significant others living together (including dependent children in school up to age 22), and single adults, widowers or widows age 33+ who maintain a residence in Halifax County, Virginia.

Stock / Initiation

$500 stock · $0 initiation

Dues

$150 / month

Class II — Young Adult

Married couples and their families, and single persons or significant others ages 18–32 who maintain a residence in Halifax County, Virginia. Full club privileges.

$500 stock or $200 initiation

Dues

$100 / month

Class III — Non-Resident

Men and women age 18+ who do not maintain a residence in Halifax County, Virginia. Full club privileges, extended to spouse and dependent children in school up to age 22.

Fees and dues are set by the Board of Directors and may be revised from time to time. A $50 transfer fee applies to every transfer of stock.

Article X

How to apply.

Membership is extended through sponsorship and review by the Membership Committee. The process honors the close-knit character of the club.

Submit application

Application is made in writing, in duplicate, on forms furnished by the Club, signed by the applicant and endorsed by two stockholder-member proposers.

Membership Committee review

The Secretary posts the applicant's name on the club bulletin board and forwards the application to the Membership Committee for investigation and decision.

Election & onboarding

Approved applicants are notified of election. Upon payment of the transfer fee and current dues in advance, a Certificate of Membership is issued. If no stock is available, the applicant is placed on the waiting list.

Dues & Good Standing

Article XIII

Accounts more than three months in arrears are notified by the Secretary. Continued non-payment results in posting on the bulletin board and, if unresolved, cancellation of stock under Article II.

Transfers & Family

Article II, §7

A member may transfer their share to a direct lineal family member through the Secretary, subject to Membership Committee approval and the standard transfer fee.
